Software Engineering Portfolio

Zachary Roberts, CHEP

I am a curious systems-level thinker transitioning from Healthcare Emergency Management to Software Engineering. I discovered a passion for software engineering when I was assigned to automate a rules-based emergency mass notification system at a regional healthcare system. I designed and implemented critical notification templates which supported hospital incident response. I enjoyed watching this system work under adverse emergency conditions; it created a bridge of logic over a sea of chaos to improve the lives and realities of others. I design software with the guiding principles of reliability, resiliency, and user experience.

Programming Lexicon

Language Proficiency Notes
Python Intermediate My first programming language. I tend to abstract other languages in terms of Python.
HTML Intermediate I can build basic websites quickly.
CSS Intermediate I can write really creative CSS. It reminds me of PowerPoint.
JavaScript Intermediate I am still developing the finer points of JavaScript. I use Python knowledge to navigate it.
C++ Beginner C++ is my first compiled language, I am actively learning it.
MicroPython Developing proficiency I challenge myself to write Python programs for a Casio FX/CG50 calculator. I think that constrained miniature computers are interesting.
